Anchorage Place Properties - Russian Hill - San Francisco

Russian Hill is an upscale residential neighborhood with pockets of tasteful restaurants and chic shops.  The homes and apartments have a touch of most urban European cities although with the hills and cable cars, it is truly San Francisco.

Charming restaurants and small businesses cluster on the tree lined Hyde Street between Jackson and Union Streets.  The center of Russian Hill is accessible by the Hyde-Powell cable car.  Polk Street is crowded with unique boutiques, antique shops, trendy restaurants and night spots. A mini French quarter has sprung up around Polk and Green, where you'll find  great bistros, a traditional café-boulangerie, a French antiques store, and several French-influenced gift and home décor shops.  The tourists and locals frequent the unique areas of Russian Hill but by far the most popular destination is  the "Crookedest Street in the World":  Lombard Street.

Lombard Street
Lombard Street is known as the "Crookedest Street" in the World.  You  climb 253 steps on the left side and 249 steps on the right side of the street.  There are 8 switchbacks and 12 flowerbeds with over 2000 blue and purple hydrangeas.  The flowers are manicured all year long.  Throughout the day, hundreds of people visit this street.  The street is used for weddings, exhibits, and other special events.  It is one of the most popular and photographed areas in the world.
